JOB TITLE: Senior or Associate Hydrologist / Flood Risk Engineer

DISCIPLINE TEAM: Hydrology

OFFICE LOCATION(S): Cambridge, Edinburgh or Bristol

REPORTING TO: Technical Director

WORKING HOURS: 37.5hrs (part-time working considered)

SALARY: Negotiable plus benefits

SYNOPSIS:

SLR is an international environmental consultancy with almost 900 employees working from over 60 offices in the Europe, North America, Australasia, and Africa. Headquartered in the UK, SLR is one of a very small number of truly international specialist environmental consultancies.

This position presents an outstanding opportunity to join a team of hydrologists, flood risk engineers and hydrogeologists within a truly multinational consultancy and offers significant potential for career development and enhancement based on performance. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

We would expect candidates to have previous experience (3+ years for senior grade, 5+ years for associate grade) working for an engineering or environmental consultancy and have worked on a range of projects in the residential, commercial and industrial business sectors. Experience of working in the renewables, minerals and waste sectors is preferred but not essential.

It is anticipated applicants would have a good knowledge of regulatory standards (e.g. PPS25, TAN15 and SPP) and have proven experience promoting sites on behalf of developers.

Duties and responsibilities would include:

management and undertaking flood risk assessments and SUDs design studies;

attendance at client and regulatory meetings;

business development and proposal writing;

drainage design (conceptual and detailed); and

prepare hydrology / flood risk chapters for environmental impact assessments.

It is expected that applicants would be conversant with some of the common hydrological modelling tools, such as, WinDES, FEH, HEC-RAS, ISIS, TuFLOW etc.

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATION / MEMBERSHIP :

Relevant first degree

Desirable

Masters degree in hydrology / flood risk / engineering

Chartered status (CEng or CIWEM) (or approaching chartered status)

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES :

Essential

An ability to adjust to normal social circumstances including contact with colleagues, clients and contractors. Ability to work in a team and self. Reliable, conscientious and committed.

OTHER:

Essential

IT literacy and proficiency in MS office applications

Full driving licence
