Our Ecology team support a diverse range of projects across a number of sectors both within the UK and internationally for both private and public sector clients. We pride ourselves on the integrated support we offer by working alongside our in-house water, landscape and sustainability specialists to deliver commercially balanced, innovative and integrated solutions.

We are looking to appoint a number of fixed-term positions across the UK to support a range of projects. The successful candidates, ideally with experience gained within a professional consultancy, will be enthusiastic, confident and motivated with good communication skills and able to work independently as well as part of a team. Working in small teams, they would support our established team with surveys to support planning applications, advance of works surveys and implementing mitigation measures on the ground. It is anticipated that the applicants would be mostly field-based and ideally would have experience in one of more of the following areas:

  • Ornithology;

  • Botanical surveys including NVC and phase 1 surveys;

  • Protected species surveys e.g. bats, newts, badger, water vole, otter, white-clawed crayfish, birds, red squirrel, pine marten etc.);

  • Possession of one or more protected species licences would be an advantage;

  • An understanding/experience of the protected species licensing process and mitigation for protected and notable species would be advantageous though not strictly necessary.

  • Experience of field-based ecological mitigation and ecological clerk of works is desirable;

  • Understanding of UK & European wildlife legislation particularly relating to commonly occurring protected species and species of high conservation importance would be desirable;

  • Excellent data management skills;

  • Experience of liaising with clients, stakeholders and contractors is desirable;
