Summary ADAS has a vacancy for an EIA Consultant on a permanent contract. The successful candidate will have a varied workload, to include renewables, waste, agriculture, project management and business development.

Purpose of role:

  • To manage simple EIA and planning based projects.

  • To assist EIA project managers in delivery of complex EIA projects.

  • To support EIA business development activities.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Carry out EIA scoping and screening assessments.

  2. Coordinate and project manage simple EIA & planning based projects.

  3. Support EIA project managers with delivery of complex EIA projects as directed.

  4. Consult and attend meetings with clients, regulators, sub-contractors and planning authorities.

  5. Carry out desk studies, field surveys and baseline data collation / assessment.

  6. Source, instruct and co-ordinate technical experts (both internal and external).

  7. Review technical reports and collate into ES.

  8. Support business development activities where required through preparation of proposals, tenders and marketing material.

  9. Establish and maintain good client relationships and pro-actively identify opportunities for business development.

  10. Facilitate financial processes relating to own projects, for example invoicing, pricing and management of contract specific financial data.

Education/Qualifications/Experience/Skills

Essential:

  • At least one year’s experience in EIA, preferably in a commercial consultancy environment.

  • A degree in a relevant environmental subject, for example; Environmental Science, EIA, Town & Country Planning, Environmental Engineering or equivalent.

  • Good generalist knowledge of topics comprising EIA and potential mitigation / compensation measures.

  • Good report writing, time and project management skills.

  • Numerate and proficient in the use of MS Word and Excel and in the use of email and the internet.

  • Current driving licence.

Desirable:

  • A second qualification in a relevant subject.

  • Previous experience of managing simple projects.

  • Technical specialism in a skill relevant to EIA, for example, water, ecology, landscape, air quality etc.

  • Good working knowledge of Town & Country Planning procedures and practice.

  • A sound knowledge of the development process and how potential environmental impacts may affect development timetables.

  • Experience of the renewables, waste and agriculture sectors.

  • Appropriate level of Membership of a relevant professional body.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, both with colleagues and clients.

  • Positive attitude, flexibility and willingness to tackle new areas of work beyond core skill.

  • Enthusiasm to get the job done using own initiative and with good teamwork skills.

You will be an experienced ecologist with survey and development licences for key protected species and have experience of delivering cost effective ecological solutions for development, utility, rail and other infrastructure projects.
