You will be an experienced ecologist with survey and development licences for key protected species and have experience of delivering cost effective ecological solutions for development, utility, rail and other infrastructure projects. As a key member of the ADAS environment group you will work with a team of other Principal Consultants covering EIA, Arboriculture, Renewables, GIS, Land Management and Software Development to grow the ADAS environmental consultancy business and have responsibility for delivering results in the these areas. Purpose of role: -
To lead and manage a team of ecology consultants covering the south of the England. -
Fulfil senior management role in the ADAS Milton Park office. -
To lead delivery and development of the utility, rail and developer ecology business with a strong focus on providing commercial and practical solutions to ADAS clients. -
Prepare and implement detailed sales, marketing and business development plans for ecological services for the ADAS Ecology South Team. -
Build strong customer relationships working with ADAS business development managers in these sectors -
To develop and set professional standards for the delivery of ecological services to the utility, rail and developer sectors and see they are maintained. -
To provide technical, commercial and business development mentoring for ADAS Ecology South Team. -
Manage complex and or high profile projects to deliver required profit and customer satisfaction. -
To undertake high level consultancy for EPS licensing and research for a range of clients. -
Maintain up to date knowledge of developments in habitats, species and EIA legislation. Key responsibilities: -
Achieve commercial targets. -
Undertake the role of office manager at ADAS Milton Park office. -
Provide personnel, sales, commercial and technical management of a team of ecology consultants. -
Business development of ADAS ecology services across the south of England covering survey, implementation of mitigation, biodiversity offsets and habitat creation and management through sales visits, presentations, leading complex tenders and relationship building. -
Ensure contracts and projects are managed in commercially professional manner and are delivered to the required standard and in line with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirements. -
Personally develop and manage agreed key accounts. -
Raise the profile of ADAS within the profession and amongst key industry organizations and regulators. -
Work with ADAS business development managers and the Head of Environment to implement the strategy for growth. -
Set professional standards for ecological services across projects in the utility, rail and developer sectors. -
Ensure ADAS ecology team south maintains sufficient skills and experience to secure licenses for working with key EPS and deliver wide range of ecological services required by clients. -
Manage complex and/or high profile projects to achieve profit for ADAS and customer satisfaction -
Carry out high level consultancy and research. -
Undertake license applications for complex situations -
Act as mentor to team members to develop their skills and knowledge. -
Provide quality assurance for complex technical reports. -
Protect the health safety of staff through the overseeing implementation of appropriate work practices and risk assessments. Education/Qualifications/Experience/Skills Essential: Personal Attributes: -

Five years business development experience in the ecology field, including working on environmental impact assessments and complex development projects with a good sales and business development track record. -
Experience and track record in leading a team of professionals. -
Experience in costing, selling and tender writing. -
Making sales presentations and building relationships -
Excellent project management skills and commercial outlook with a track record in delivering profitable contracts Technical Expertise -
Excellent knowledge of habitats, protected species and planning legislation and policy in the UK and Europe. -
Five years post qualification experience of delivering ecological consultancy -
Development and implementation of cost effective mitigation; and preparation of environmental management plans. -
Full membership of IEEM. -
A high level of knowledge of ecological survey methods. -
Possess survey or disturbance licences for at least one relevant EPS. -
Good report writing skills. Other -
Numerate and proficient in the use of MS, Word, Powerpoint and Excel and in the use of email and the internet -
