| Details | JOB TITLE: Technical Director/Principal - Renewables DISCIPLINE TEAM: Flexible OFFICE LOCATION(S): Any UK office REPORTING TO: UK Board Director WORKING HOURS: 9.00 am – 5.30 pm SALARY: Negotiable, plus excellent benefits SYNOPSIS: SLR is an international environmental consultancy with almost 900 employees working from over 60 offices in the Europe, North America, Australasia, and Africa. Headquartered in the UK, SLR is one of a very small number of truly international specialist environmental consultancies. It provides global advice and support on a wide range of strategic and site-specific issues to a diverse and growing base of business, regulatory and governmental clients. Key areas of SLR’s business are the energy and mining sector where it is involved with both the oil and gas industry, renewable power including wind, energy from waste, hydropower and biomass, and advises mining companies and funding organisations throughout the world. SLR is also the leading consultant to the private sector waste management industry in the UK and undertakes a significant amount of planning and environmental impact assessment work for major commercial developers. SLR is at the forefront of globally providing a wide range of technical and professional services to the renewable energy sector and has been developing and expanding its presence in this sector for a number of years. It is particularly strong in the following renewable energy technologies; wind, solar, ground source & geothermal, biomass & energy crops as well as energy from waste. SLR is now looking for somebody to help further develop SLR’s renewable energy sector in the UK and further afield. We are particularly looking for candidates who could drive the development of areas such as wind, wave & tidal and solar. Candidates who have due diligence experience in this sector would be particularly welcome. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will help develop SLR’s renewable energy business sector in the UK although this role will also need to consider and develop global opportunities for business. There would also be the opportunity to develop and shape SLR’s global renewable energy capability. The role would be to facilitate and develop the business sector, whilst also carrying out chargeable work within the field of their expertise. The position would report into the main SLR Consulting Board and it is expected that the candidate would significantly develop/influence the company’s UK and global renewable energy strategy. PERSON SPECIFICATION: TECHNICAL SKILLS / ABILITIES / EXPERIENCE : Essential Strategic thinking Proven work winning capabilities within a consultancy context Good network of potential clients Desirable The ability to lead, influence, motivate and grow technical teams Experience of due diligence/M&A in the renewables sector International consultancy experience EDUCATION / QUALIFICATION / MEMBERSHIP : Essential Relevant first degree Desirable Related post-graduate qualification Membership/Chartered Status with a relevant professional body/institute PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES : Essential An ability to adjust to normal social circumstances including contact with colleagues, clients and contractors. Ability to work in a team and self. Reliable, conscientious, committed and a visionary.
